Place Review: Austria (Vienna)

This review will be one of the smallest here on the blog, because when I went to Austria, I forgot my wallet at home. See if anyone can do such a silly thing.

I took a train in Hungary, more precisely in Debrecen, with a train exchange in Budapest, if my memory serves me. Between Debrecen and Budapest some 300 Km, as well as from Budapest to Vienna.

The whole trip took about 12 hours, the weather was quite nice, despite the melting snow. As we left early, we got close to noon.

The arrival

That's when the problem began. As I lived in Europe at the time, such trips are treated casually, like going to another state here in Brazil, and added the confusion of waking up very early, I left the wallet at home. Per luck, and nothing but luck, I had enough money in my bag for the return ticket, which was leaving late in the afternoon. I could take the same train the other day, but the money was well in touch, would not give for food + hostel, and because of that, we decided to just walk around the city with the hours we had left. It was frustrating to travel longer than staying in Austria, but it is good to laugh nowadays.

Walking

With money tighter than cowboy pants, the way to go is to spend your sole, but it's always a short thing to do for a fuller city experience.

Based on the location of the train station, we decided to take a walk in the city and go to a nearby tourist spot, which luckily was Schönbrunn Palace, one of the most important points of the place.

Schönbrunn Palace

The Schönbrunn Palace (Schloss Schönbrunn) was the main summer residence of the Habsburg rulers, located in Hietzing, Vienna. The baroque palace of 1,441 rooms It is one of the most important architectural, cultural and historical monuments in the country. Since the mid-1950s, it has been a major tourist attraction. The history of the palace and its vast gardens encompass more than 300 years, reflecting the changing tastes, interests and aspirations of successive Habsburg monarchs.

Although very beautiful, we did not enter the palace that day. I apologize again for the lack of memory, but I can not say if it was because it was closed, it was lack of money or time haha. I remember going to the gift shop and buying a lighter with a picture of the palace for my collection, but other than that, it was nothing exceptional (the lighter and the store).

Following trip

With our short time, we followed our walk through Vienna. With a very European standard, I who do not know Germany, could feel a touch of what should be, especially by language.

We continued the walk on cold and sunny day without major highlights. The weather of the city was very pleasant, and at no time did not feel safe. The people are not very friendly, as it is not surprising in Europe, but nothing that drew attention.

Therefore…

Nice and well maintained place, European standard, even with the very short time, I do not regret having gone, just not staying anymore. I left with the feeling of having only seen the surface, I even think it wrong to say I know Austria. Yes I know it is some streets.

9/10, would return if convenient.
